Where to ride Mountain Bikes in Melbourne?
If you’re looking for a mountain bike adventure, Melbourne is the place to be. It’s home to a number of world class mountain biking areas and parks, offering something for everyone, from experienced riders to beginner riders.
There are also a variety of smaller off-road trails around the city which make for fun adventures. There are plenty of groups that cater for all skill levels, so join up with some like minded people and get ready to hit the trail.
Whether you’re after downhill, all mountain or cross country tracks you can find them in Melbourne. Or, if you prefer to take it slow, try one of the mellower tracks in Lysterfield Park or Woodend.
Lysterfield Park soared to fame after the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and is now home to a range of flowing trails that are perfectly groomed. It’s a good place to go for beginners and offers plenty of flowy single track loops and side loops that aren’t too technical.
Arthurs Seat is another high altitude MTB destination and provides a great range of trails from gentle green grade trails right through to black diamond for the adrenaline junkies. It’s a very popular destination and the best way to explore it is by guided ride.
Smiths Gully is another great mountain bike area north east of Melbourne. It has over 100km of trails and offers a great range of cross country and all mountain trails.
